Monday night brought around the quiz night again, and we were a team of three. What better way to get the brain working by, you guessed it, walking there! Only three of us tonight and we set off on the 5.1 mile journey. Through Ingleby and past the Fox Covert, the time soon passed, especially with the quiz questions being thrown between us. We established, quite rightly, that Paolo Maldini was the best left back ever - yes, including Graeme le Saux and Justin Edinburgh! The last mile of the walk however, was a grueller. It was, or at least it seemed to be, a slight uphill all of the way, and pitch black along the country road, only illuminated by the passing of headlights.
The quiz was another good 'un. We managed to sneak into the money again, fourth place, adding a fiver to our pot. Things we learnt this week include California being the third largest state, Col somehow knowing Memphis shared its name with an old Egyptian city, Paul flexing his knowledge of Brokeback Mountain and African colonies, and everyone now knows the date of birth for Boris Johnson is 19/06/1964. Oh and Bob Hope has hosted the most Oscar Award Ceremonies.
The half time grub was served up and I almost fell for the culinary disguise trick. That egg mayonnaise sarnie I was about to tuck into was a sneaky coronation chicken one trying to look like egg mayo. Fortunately (for me) Paul beat me to it and had to suffer the consequences, although he seemed to enjoy it. The night was topped off when Nat picked us up and was the first i had seen of her since she left for Blackpool on Friday.
Some great news came through about a potential fundraising night but I will blog about that when confirmations are definite.
Tuesday involved a walk to work and an exciting cup tie on the night for Hartlepool. The only problem was that the game was terrible and we got beat on a penalty shoot out, so the less said about that the better!
And finally a brief mention of my walking shoes. I had them less than two months (I think) and they have given up on me already, well what do I expect at a tenner a pair!
