Yesterday was one of them days when I just done nothing, and it was brilliant!
I managed to have a lie in, and a few phone calls aside, had no contact with civilisation. As I had already had my football bets on from Friday, I could enjoy Jeff on the TV followed by the ESPN match and finishing off with a movie marathon from 9pm - 3am. Carlsberg don't do Saturdays.....
OK I did do quite a bit of stuff around the house being a domestic God and all that and it flashed through my mind whether to go to Redcar races (walk of course) and/or the casino on the night, but ultimately, staying in won the toss up, much to the delight of my wallet!
There was, however, a little bit more planned for Sunday. It began with church and then I walked out with dad along the barrage and back up the wilderness road. I have done this before but I wanted to try and up the pace a bit. We managed to do 5.6 miles at a pace of 3.1mph which I was quite happy about. I'm also pleased as it felt easy, I am getting quite comfortable with 5-8 miles with no problems at all. I can concentrate on trying to speed up my times web doing these distances.
It was a nice day so there was plenty of people about. You cross the people walking back from work, the joggers who look in agony, the dog walkers, and the fellow ramblers who vary in sociability, from the unsure whether to engage in pleasantries to the enthusiastic 'morning', even though it is mid-afternoon!
We crossed the Diana bridge today which Princess Di opened in 1992 and the infinity bridge, which was opened in 2009 and dad tells me he crossed it on the day it opened. We also crossed the Newport bridge, which is a vertical lift bridge and was last raised in 1990 before its mechanical decommissioning. I am no bridge expert by the way, just thought I would 'Wikipedia' that out of curiousity!
The thought of dinner at the end of the walk was enough incentive to keep up the pace and we went to the Beckfields for lunch - always a safe bet.
The late night must have caught up with me as the last thing I remember was being sat on the sofa at about 5pm and then waking up again at 8! Refreshed I planned my movie night which included Misery and Saw II, yeah it's one of them nights!
A walk to work in the morning and a walk to the Falcon will make a total fri-mon distance of about 24 miles.

Anyway, I'm off to revise every Oscar winner from 1929 in time for tomorrow's quiz....
